Objective
This company has been a longstanding client partner of Bell Oaks and was now seeking assistance with two very specialized employment needs. First, was a Project Manager of Hardware who possessed deep technical knowledge but also had the ability to clearly communicate with and understand the company’s customer requirements. The particular challenge was finding someone who wanted to work as a full-time employee versus as a consultant given that considerably more money could be made as a consultant
The client also was seeking a Purchasing Manager with similar technical and interpersonal capabilities. This person needed to have “big company” experience in reducing overhead without impeding company growth married with the ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
Process
Bell Oaks identified its team member with the most experience in technology and placing candidates in that field. Initial meetings with key client stakeholders uncovered specific needs allowing Bell Oaks to work collaboratively with its internal resources to meet the needs of the client quickly. The Bell Oaks in-house research team identified specific candidates and relevant groups in which to mine for talent through extensive networking.
Numerous changes were made on the client side throughout the process. Bell Oaks efficiently managed the process by staying in close contact with the hiring managers to understand the catalysts for those changes in the role and why.
Results
Both candidates were placed — one in just over one month and the second within three months. Both are still with the company more than a year later and are extremely productive members of the client team. The client contacts involved with the process were very pleased with Bell Oaks’ business acumen, speed of results, and knowledge of their business.
