Critical Director of Sales & Marketing Needed to Replace Internal Promotion

A global, multi-billion dollar manufacturing company
Objective
Bell Oaks was retained to backfill a Director of Sales & Marketing position since the previous employee was promoted to vice president. The search was urgent and critical to support our client’s biggest business unit.
The position required candidates who were open to international travel, well-versed in complex negotiations, and have a technical background at the plant level of manufacturing. Our client promotes from within, so candidates needed to be open to future internal opportunities which may require relocation.
Process
In order to attract the right candidate quickly, Bell Oaks proactively recruited individuals from manufacturing organizations who held similar job titles. This targeted method was effective and we interviewed 15 candidates, but presented a slate of five who were the best fit for our client. Because of our client’s hectic schedule, the in-person interview we ran with the candidates acted as a first round allowing our client to expedite their interview process.
Results
The search resulted in Bell Oaks filling the Director of Sales & Marketing, but because we presented a slate of five high potential candidates, our client hired a second candidate into one of their smaller business units. The candidates have landed positions with our client that will allow greater long-term growth for their career and our client added two new team members who will add tremendous value.
