International Manufacturing Company Seeking Talent in Remote Locations

A multi-billion dollar leader in sleep technology and innovation and one of the country’s oldest companies
Objective
Bell Oaks was engaged by this prominent company to seek out potential candidates for two Lean Engineering roles at two of its manufacturing facilities. The challenge for our client was attracting the highest quality talent to work in the small remote towns where the facilities are located. These positions were vital to the company’s future production and profit goals by introducing and establishing a system to remove waste from the manufacturing process. Previously engaged executive search firms were not successful in securing candidates.
Process
The Bell Oaks team expanded its conventional search pool in two strategic ways. First, we built an extensive network within the field of engineering by contacting manufacturing plants and associations across the country. Secondly, we immersed ourselves within the company’s immediate and neighboring communities to find candidates with relevant experience who had been previously overlooked.
Results
After reviewing credentials and interviewing applicants, we were able to present the client with a pool of highly-specialized candidates to consider for its team. Through non-traditional processes, we found two leading candidates who were already living in or around the job locations. Both of these resulted in hires, thereby saving our client costly relocation expenditures. Comments from the client and candidates hired demonstrated that the placements have been very successful.
